Figueira da Foz is located on the Silver Coast between Porto and Lisbon. The city is situated at the mouth of the River Mondego and has a wide and extensive beach. The bustle along the beach area and main avenue, with its large hotels, contrasts with the surroundings of Vila Branca which is very calm and serene.

The Silver Coast is also known as a surfer’s paradise. From quiet and relaxed sandy beaches in Tocha (24 km) and Mira (40 km), to the large and bustling seaside resorts.

Tocha is a unique fishing village, known for its traditional “Palheiros”, typical triangular houses that fishermen built in this area. Here you’ll discover the fishermen’s market early in the morning and enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets in the dunes of this area.

In addition to the fishing village near Buarcos (5 km), you will find Cabo Mondego (8 km), a limestone cliff with a lighthouse, old quarries and a beautiful viewpoint. Further inland, you will find the medieval town of Montemor-o-Velho (17 km), with its imposing castle, the Convent of Our Lady of Angels and numerous buildings of ancient architecture. Further afield, you will find Coimbra (45 km), land of the oldest university in Europe. The historical city is divided into upper and lower Coimbra (Upper and Lower City), both easily accessible. Visit the beautiful university campus, stroll the meander streets, or find peace in the botanical garden.

Even the metropolis of Porto (139 km) is easy to reach within 1.5 hours. The nearest airport is also close to Porto (150 km).
